HCC Alumnus Commits to Mercyhurst College
Hagerstown, MD - Former HCC standout Alex Manea ('10) recently committed to attend Division II Mercyhurst College in the fall. He accepted an athletic scholarship and a position on the men's soccer team.
Manea was pivotal in the recent success at Hagerstown Community College. Last season he tallied 14 goals and three assists, totaling 31 points. He was ranked seventh in the conference in goals and 47th in the nation. Manea amassed numerous individual honors last year, including, First Team NJCAA Region XX, First Team MDJUCO, Division I Region XX All-Tournament Team, NJCAA Region XX All-Star game MVP, Team MVP, and was nominated for NJCAA All-American.
In 2008, Manea played a more central midfield role for the Hawks. He scored nine goals and had five assists, for 23 points. Manea was named to the Second Team NJCAA Region XX.
Mercyhurst College is located in Erie, PA and participates in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Last season they finished with an overall record of 14-6-1 and 7-1-0 in the conference, while winning the PSAC West Regular Season Championship and progressing into the NCAA Division II Tournament.

He was a tremendous asset for us the last two seasons and it was a pleasure coaching him because he always represented HCC well. We wish Alex and Mercyhurst College the best of luck in the coming years," stated Head Coach Brian Eichelberger.
