Leo Anjos Accepts Scholarship to Masters University
Hagerstown, Md. - Sophomore, Leo Anjos, has recently accepted a soccer scholarship to transfer to Masters University for the 2017 season.
Anjos, a midfielder and striker for the Hawks led the team with 13 goals and three assists for 29 points. He started 16 games and was named Team MVP. Anjos also earned First Team All-NJCAA Region XX Division I and Second Team All-MDJUCO honors.
The Hawks acquired Anjos for the 2016 season after he transfered from Trinity Baptist College. In 2015, he ended the season with six goals and four assists. He helped the Eagles to a 16-0-4 overall record while capturing the NCCAA Division II National Championship. Trinity would defeat Moody Bible Institute 1-0 to claim the title. Anjos would earn All-Tournament Team honors during the 2015 season, while also taking home the Coaches Award.
Hailing from Recife, Anjos has played club for Clube nauico Capibaribe, Santa Cruz Futebol Clube, America Futebol Clube, and Formoso da Macaxeira. He was the top scorer at Futebol Participativo Recife in 2012, while also being named Best Midfielder and All-Tournament Team.
Masters University is located in Santa Clarita, California and is an affilate of NAIA. In 2016, the Mustangs finished 11-7-2 while losing in overtime in the GSAC Semifinals. In 2015, MU finished 13-5-2 with another overtime loss in the Semifinals. The Mustangs are coached by acclaimed alumnus, Jim Rickard. In his 25 years at Masters University, he has amassed over 312 wins.
