Landsdowne Senior, Benny Brankoff, Brings Offensive Power to Hawks
Hagerstown, Md.- Landsdowne High School (Baltimore, Md.) Senior, Benny Brankoff, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men’s soccer team.
With the graduation of Alejandro Campero Oliart (18 goals, 4 assists) the Hawks need to reload with an offensive threat. Brankoff, an outside midfielder and striker for the Vikings, will graduate in May 2016 and then join HCC.
A four-year player for Landsdowne, Brankoff excelled on the field. As a freshman and sophomore, he tallied seven goals and four assists for 18 points. In his junior season, he exploded for 13 goals and four assists for 30 points and then followed that up his senior year with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points.
He helped the Vikings this past season to an overall record of 12-1-1 and in 2014 they finished 10-4-0. Brankoff was named MVP during his high school career.
Brankoff has played club soccer the last four seasons with the Baltimore Bays (Juventus F.C. United). He tallied 41 goals from 2012-2015 and his team was ranked top 20 in the nation.
Brankoff joins Angel Osegueda as committed recruits for the 2016 season.
"While we set a program record for goals last season (68), we are losing 27 of those goals to graduation, " mentioned coach Brandon Rethemeyer. "It's our priority to reload with offensive players that can contribute right away and Benny fits the mold. He is a very focused player that is extremely motivated for college soccer. He has the ability to be a very dangerous player either on the wings or up top," stated Rethemeyer.
