to Continue Career at Frostburg State University

Hagerstown, Md. - Former HCC starting defender, Cody Butts ('11), recently committed to continue his playing career at Division III, Frostburg State University.

Butts, a two-year stater in defense for the Hawks, is the only player in the program's history to start and play every minute of every game during his time at Hagerstown Community College.

This season, Butts was pivotal in helping the Hawks earn the #17 national ranking, as he consistently shut down the conference's best scorers from his center back position. For his efforts, he earned Second Team NJCAA Division I Region XX honors. He also was named to the NJCAA Division I Region XX All-Star game, as well as taking home the Team "Un-Sung Hero" Award.

In 2009, Butts helped the Hawks to an 11-6-2 overall record and a program low, 22 goals against. He recorded one assist and was the recipent for the Team "Hawk Award."

Butts joins fellow HCC goalkeeper Brian Kukucka as recently committed players for the Bobcats. Frostburg State competes in the highly competitive Capital Athletic Conference and they've made recent appearances in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament.

"As a coaching staff, we are extremely proud of Cody and are excited that he is continuing his soccer career with Frostburg State," stated Head Coach Brian Eichelberger. "He was the hardest working player we've ever coached and his reliability shows, because we never substituted him in two years at HCC. It's great that he will be teamed up with Brian Kukucka for the next two years and we wish them continued success!"
