Frostburg defeats HCC in Preseason Scrimmage
Frostburg, Md. - Division III, Frostburg State University, defeated the Hagerstown Community College Men's Soccer Team 1-0 in the annual preseason scrimmage.
The Bobcats woud get on the board seven minutes into the contest, when a Hawk defender took down an FSU player in the box and the referee awarded a penalty kick. The FSU player would convert the spot kick, giving Frostburg the only goal they needed to win the game.
Hagerstown would continue to work for the equializer and it looked as if they did when freshman Jordan Payne (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) netted a goal from 12 yards out with just one minute remaining in the game. The referee would disallow the goal however due to an offsides call.
HCC returns to action when they face Division III Hood College in their last scrimmage before the regular season. The game kicks off at 5:00 in Frederick, Md.
