Fuentes Chooses Hagerstown C.C.
Hagerstown, Md.- Watkins Mill High School graduate, Nery Fuentes, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team.
A two-year varsity starter for the Wolverine defense, Fuentes helped Watkins Mill win the 3A Maryland State Championship in 2011. Along the way, his team went 15-2-0, finishing the season with 12 straight wins. He was part of a defense that only surrendered 11 goals on the year and recorded 11 shutouts. He netted one goal and recorded eight assists from his outside back position.
In 2012, the Wolverines went 13-2-1 and recorded six shutouts. Fuentes scored one goal and had seven assists during his senior season.
Fuentes also has competed with FC Montgomery Village for five seasons, playing center back.
Feuntes joins recently committed Montgomery County senior Christian Mejia. Washington County players Bradley Mills, Jacob Ernst, Zach Robertson, Hart Weaver and Collin McVicker have all announced their commitment as well, along with Shad Gordon, from Southern Fulton and Axel Lara from Frederick County.
"Nery has accomplished so much; with winning States and being on one of the top defenses in Maryland," mentioned head coach Brian Eichelberger. "Our number one goal was to bring in defenders who can compete to make us better and he absolutely has the ability to perform right away. We were not happy with the amount of goals we surrendered last year and adding Nery will help shore up our backline."
