HCC Unable to Hold Off Allegany As Both MDJUCO Teams Draw 2-2
Hagerstown, MD- The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team rallied from being down 1-0; however, could not close the door on Allegany, as both MDJUCO teams come away with the 2-2 draw.
After a scoreless first half, Allegany scored 10 minutes in the second period to take the 1-0 lead. The Hawks would rally though and sophomore Edwin Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) would even the game in the 60th minute off an assist from freshman Daniel Lennox (Frederick, Md./Urbana).After Lennox beat a defender, he served a ball into the box, where Reyes met it with his head and lifted it into the corner of the goal. HCC continued to attack and it looked as if the Hawks would come away with the 2-1 victory, when Edwin Reyes found his brother Michael Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) for the lead.
Allegany would capitalize on a breakdown in the HCC defense and the Trojans evened the game with just 30 seconds remaining in regular time. The two teams would enter the overtimes, with Hagerstown earning the immediate chances. The Hawks were unable to convert on chances in front of the net and the game would end in a 2-2 tie.
HCC returns to action on Friday, when they face MDJUCO opponent and #8 in the nation Howard Community College, at 3:30 in Columbia, Md.
