Jallow Propels Hagerstown Past Catonsville
Hagerstown, Md. - The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team extended their winning streak to four straight games with a convincing 3-1 win over MDJUCO opponent CCBC-Catonsville.
Freshman Mamadou Jallow (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) put the Hawks on the board in the 9th minute, when he picked off an errant pass from a defender. After collecting the ball he took three dribbles towards goal and slotted the ball past the Cardinal keeper.
HCC would stave off a few opportunities and take the 1-0 lead into half. In the 52nd minute, freshman Chucky Kipe (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) put the men's team up 2-0 when he headed home a throw-in from teammate Josh Fahlfeder (Frederick, Md./Urbana). Sophomore Zack Morgan (Greencastle, Pa./Grace Academy)would score in his fourth consecutive game, when he took a through ball from Jallow and hammered it near post past the keeper.
HCC would unfortunately surrender a goal in the 89th minute when the Cardinals counterattacked on HCC. The goal would break the Hawks 359 minute scoreless streak.
Freshman goalkeeper Kenny Frederickson (Hagerstown, Md./Grace Academy) would finish the afternoon with 14 saves.
Hagerstown squares off against conference rival and MDJUCO leader Harford C.C. tomorrow at 6:00pm. The match will have extreme playoff implications since both schools are in Division I.
