Hawks Defeat CCBC-Catonsville 3-1
Catonsville, Md. -The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team opened the scoring in the first half and then never looked back as they defeated MDJUCO opponent CCBC-Catonsville 3-1, Wednesday evening.
The Hawks jumped on the board in the 28th minute when freshman Osman Ramizov (Hagerstown, Md./North) picked off a pass in the Cardinal defense and struck a 30 yard shot that dipped past the keeper and into the corner of the goal.
HCC would secure the 1-0 lead going to the intermission. Just nine minutes into the second half, Hagerstown would extend their lead when freshman Bobby Matusek (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) netted his fourth goal on the season. Classmate Fourkoko Chaw (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) sent a cross into the box that Matusek turned on and placed the ball past the Cardinal keeper.
CCBC-Catonsville would rally in the 78th minute when they sent a long ball into the Hawk box, which found an unmarked player who would blast the shot by sophomore keeper Chucky Kipe (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora).
Hagerstown would put the game out of reach in the 87th minute when freshman Brandon Redman (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) volleyed home a pass sent in from teammate Jazer Mauricio (Hagerstown, Md./North).
Kipe finished the game with 17 saves and the Hawks extended their winning streak to three games. With the win, HCC is 7-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 in MDJUCO play.
