HCC Dominates MDJUCO Opponent Cecil

North East, Md.-  The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team rebounded from their two-game losing streak by dominating MDJUCO opponent, Cecil College. The Hawks used five second half goals to cruise to an 8-0 victory.

Sophomore Jonah Smith (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) set the tone early when he volleyed home a ball thrown in by classmate Leland Creadick (Myersville, Md./Middletown) in the third minute. Eight minutes later, Creadick picked out sophomore Jacob Hargett (Myersville, Md./Middletown) with a 15 yard cross into the box, where he was able to place it last the Seahawks keeper.

HCC took a 3-0 lead into halftime when Smith returned the favor to Creadick, who struck a low shot from 25 yards out beating the keeper to his right.

In the 58th minute, Patrick Creadick (Myersville, Md./Middletown) took a quick pass from freshman Brad Mills (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) and chipped the goalkeeper from 25 yards out. Smith extended the Hawks lead in the 64th minute when sophomore Dillon Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) found him off a free kick play and he curled the ball into the side netting.

In the 70th minute, freshman Zach Robertson (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) scored his first collegiate goal when he took a pass from L. Creadick and crossed the ball into the far upper corner of the goal.

Eyler netted his first goal of the season in the 80th minute when he bent a rebounded shot around the goalkeeper. Just two minutes later, Hargett concluded the scoring when Smith beat a defender on the endline and slotted a ball played back to him.
