Morgan Scores Two to Lead HCC to Second Straight Shutout Victory
Wye Mills, Md. - The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team shutout their second straight MDJUCO opponent Friday Afternoon when they defeated Chesapeake College 3-0.
HCC scored the fastest goal in the program's history, when freshman Chucky Kipe (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) picked out sophomore Zack Morgan (Greencastle, Pa./Grace Academy) for a volley into the net, just one minute into the match.
Hagerstown would keep the pressure on the Skipjacks and in the 10th minute, Morgan drew the keeper out as he attacked on a breakaway and then slotted the ball to freshman Genc Sopa (Kosovo/Kosovo) who placed the ball in the back of the net, for his third goal of the season.
The Hawks went into the half with the 2-0 lead. In the second half, HCC would continue to dominate play and in the 50th minute Sopa would cross the ball into the box where freshman Garrett Cook (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) would lay the ball back to Morgan, who would place the ball just inside the far post for his team-leading ninth goal.
Freshmen goalkeepers Kenny Frederickson (Hagerstown, Md./Grace Academy) and Chip Rittenhouse (Hagerstown, Md./South) combined for just four saves in net for the Hawks.
HCC looks to get revenge tomorrow at home when the square off against Delaware Tech-Stanton again, whom they lost to 2-1 just one week ago. The game will kickoff at 1:00pm.
