HCC Up
ended by #7 Essex County College

Hagerstown, MD- The Essex County College men's soccer team came into the match ranked #7 in the nation and boasting a 4-0 record. They were able to defeat Hagerstown Community College 3-0, giving them their third straight loss on the season.

The two teams would battle back and forth at the beginning of the game, trading quality opportunities on net. Freshman Zack Morgan (Greencastle, Pa./Grace Academy)would have the best chance on the afternoon for the Hawks, when he found himself on a breakaway with the Essex goalkeeper, just two minutes into the contest. The goalkeeper would need to make a kick save to thwart Morgan's chance.

The Wolverines would finally break the deadlock, when they netted the first goal of the afternoon in the 23rd minute. They would look to extend their lead to 2-0, when a shot riccocheted off an HCC defender and off the hands off sophomore keeper Brain Kukucka (Monrovia, Md./Urbana). The Hawks found themselves down yet another goal just two minutes into the second half. Essex County would take a poor clearance and beat a defender to get themselves in the goal box. They would place the ball around Kukucka and cap off the scoring, 3-0.

Kukucka finished the afternoon, making four saves. HCC returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to conference opponent Cecil Community College at 4:00pm. The Hawks look to rebound and get back on the winning track.
