Hagerstown Loses to CCBC-Essex

Essex, Md. - The Hagerstown Community College (8-7-0) men's soccer team surrendered two first half goals and were unable to get on the board, as CCBC-Essex beat the Hawks in MDJUCO action.

The Knights, the 2012 Region XX Division Champions, established much of the possession from the whistle. In the 15th minute, sophomore keeper Adam Carrier (Cumberland, Md./Calvary Christian Academy) was forced to make a diving save on a ball headed towards the upper corner of the goal to keep the game scoreless.

Four minutes later, Hagerstown mounted an attack of their own, but a pass freshman Yusuf Bodirov (Krasnodar, Russia/North Hagerstown) to classmate Jonah Smith (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) would be intercepted by the Knights goalkeeper. The Knights would take the ball down on the ensuing play and a foul would be called on the Hawks just 20 yards from the goal.

CCBC-Essex would score on the free kick chance as the ball slipped through Carrier's hands and into the net.

In the second half, Hagerstown would see limited possesion as the Knights continud to control the tempo. In the 75th minute, Carrier came up three consecutive saves, keeping the score at 2-0.
