HCC vs. Frostburg Preseason Scrimmage
Frostburg, MD - The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team kicked off their 2010 season in a scrimmage contest against Division III Frostburg State University on Saturday evening.
The two teams play the annual match for evaluation purposes and the contest is split into three, 30 minute periods. Frostburg State opened the scoring in the last minute of the first period when sophomore keeper Brian Kukucka (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) was beaten from a header off a direct kick. FSU and HCC would play a scoreless second period, keeping the score at 1-0 in the favor of the Bobcats.
The Hawks would net a goal in the third period; however, it would be called back for offsides. HCC would continue to attack and freshman Zack Morgan (Greencastle, Pa./Grace Academy) would eventually even the game at 1-1. Sophomores Andrew Fowkes (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) and Michael Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) would net goals in the third period. The game would end 3-1, with Hagerstown capturing the win.
The Hawks open up the regular season on Friday, when they take on Lord Fairfax at home at 4:30pm. The Hawks are 3-0 against the Cannons and have outscored them 22-3 in their matches.
