HCC Remains Undefeated with Conference Win
Hagerstown, MD- The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team fell behind early in the game; however, they were able to battle back and steal the 2-1 victory over conference opponent Harford Community College.
HCC gave up just their second goal on the season, in the fourth minute, when a Harford player floated a shot over the outstretched arms of sophomore keeper Brian Kukucka (Monrovia, Md./Urbana).
Freshman Garrett Hajjar (Frederick, Md./Urbana) would continue his five-game scoring streak, when he evened the game at 1-1 in the 37th minute. Sophomore Michael Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) would play a through ball onto Hajjar, who placed it around the keeper and off the far post for the goal.
Reyes would then net the game winner in the 54th minute, when he powered home a corner kick off the assist of classmate Andrew Fowkes (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg).
Kukucka would tally 12 saves on the afternoon and the Owls would hold the advantage in shots over the Hawks, 18-9.
With the win, the Hawks now move into first place of the MDJUCO and continue their five-game winning streak. During this stretch they have outscored opponents 16-2. They return to action on Friday when they host #5 in the nation Prince George's Community College, at 3:30pm.
