Hagerstown Falls to #15 Harford Community College
Bel Air, Md. - The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team squared off against NSCAA #15 and MDJUCO #1 Harford Community College on Tuesday evening. Harford ended HCC's four game winning streak by controlling the match and winning 3-1.
The Owls would get on the board in the 3rd minute, when a strike from 35 yards out beat freshman goalkeeper Kenny Frederickson (Hagerstown, Md./Grace Academy) to the far post. Hagerstown would respond just four minutes later though when freshman Mamadou Jallow (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) assisted on a goal from classmate Chucky Kipe (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora).
Harford would regain the lead in the 15th minute when a cross sent into the box led to a redirected header that landed at the feet of an Owl striker who volleyed it into the net.
Harford would add an insurance goal in the 65th minute when they tapped in a rebound in front of the goal. With the win, Harford remains undefeated in conference play, while HCC falls to 5-4-1 in MDJUCO.
Frederickson finished with 12 saves, while second half keeper replacement Chip Rittenhouse (Hagerstown, Md./South) finished with three.
The Hawks play two more games in conference play, which will ultimately determine their fate for the Region XX playoff picture. HCC takes on Prince Georges Community College on Friday, before ending MDJUCO play against College of Southern Maryland on Saturday.
