Howard Defeats Hagerstown in MDJUCO Action
Hagerstown, Md.- Despite taking a 1-0 lead early in the game, Hagerstown falls to Howard in MDJUCO action.
HCC jumped out to a lead in the 15th minute when sophomore Dillon Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) converted a penalty kick opportunity for his second goal on the season. Just two minutes later though, Howard would tie the game when a long ball would be played over the back line and a Dragon player would place it into the far corner of the goal.
Howard would take the lead in the 31st minute when a free kick from 20 yards out would be played to the left side and the ensuing shot would sail over HCC goalkeeper Cristian Mejia (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard) and land into the side netting.
Just one minute after halftime, Howard would extend their lead to 3-1 when Mejia would unfortunatley lose control of a bouncing low ball. The Dragons would round out the scoring in the 78th minute when another breakaway chance would be finished. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 4-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the MDJUCO.
Mejia would finish with 12 saves on the afternoon. The Hawks travel to Anne Arundel on September 19 for a 7:00pm kickoff.
