NOVA Avenges Early Season Loss to Down HCC
Hagerstown, MD- The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team, having beaten Northern Virginia Community College earlier in the season, suffered a defeat in their last regular season home game.
The two teams played at the beginning of the season, with Hagerstown taking home the win, 2-0. NOVA would rebound though and put up a stronger showing the second time around, defeating HCC 3-0. NOVA would open their scoring in the 14th minute of the first half, when a long range shot beat sophomore keeper Brian Kukucka (Frederick, Md./Urbana). The teams went into half with the score 1-0 in favor of NOVA.
Northern Virginia would then get on the board again in the 69th minute, when a low ball found the back of the net past Kukucka. Kukucka made eight saves on the afternoon, before giving way to classmate Derek Apple (Martinsburg, Wva./Faith Christian Academy). NOVA would extend their lead to 3-0 in the 87th minute and would conclude the game with the victory.
The Hawks return to MJUCO action, when they face Frederick Community College on Friday at 3:00pm.
