Hagerstown C.C. Soccer Dominates #5 Prince George's Community College to Remain Undefeated
Hagerstown, MD- The Prince George's Community College men's soccer team came into the match garnering the #5 NJCAA ranking; however, were upended by a dominating HCC squad. HCC now sits alone at the top of the MDJUCO standings, with a 3-0 record in conference and 6-0 overall.
Freshman Zack Morgan (Greencastle, Pa./Grace Academy) opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he capitalized on his breakaway opportunity from a ball played by sophomore Michael Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport). The Hawks took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Freshman Garrett Hajjar (Frederick, Md./Urbana) continued his scoring streak to six-straight games, as he netted goals in the 58th and 69th minutes respectively. Sophomore Edwin Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport)would be credited on the assist for Hajjar's first goal after he capitalized on an errant goalkeeper blunder. Morgan would tally his first assist on the year when he played a through ball into Hajjar for the second of his two goals.
Michael Reyes would put the game out of reach when he chipped the goalkeeper on a breakaway from 18 yards out. Classmate Roland Wilson (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) would tally the assist.
Sophomore keeper Brian Kukucka (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) would earn his fourth shutout victory while needing to make 12 saves in the contest.
The Hawks return to the pitch on Tuesday when they host #11 in the nation Montgomery College-Rockville at 3:30pm.
