Thomas Johnson's Lara to Attend Hagerstown C.C.
Hagerstown, Md.- Thomas Johnson High School senior, Axel Lara, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team.
Lara and the Patriots took down the Linganore Lancers in the First Round of the MPSSAA Boy's Soccer Playoffs. They would see their 2013 season come to an end in the second round, as Urbana High School, the eventual undefeated state champions, defeated TJ 3-0.
Lara finished his two-year varsity career with three goals and six assists for 12 points.
Along with Thomas Johnson, Lara plays with the Alliance Soccer Club. He netted six goals and chipped in with four assists, for 16 points. He helped his team win the 2013 Maryland President's Cub and was a semi-finalist in the 2013 President's Day Showcase. In 2012, Lara's team was NCSL Division Champions, with a 6-1-2 record, and they were Columbia Fall Classic Champions.
Lara joins former Thomas Johnson teammate Quinn Jenkins, along with recently committed Clear Spring players Bradley Mills, Jacob Ernst and Zach Robertson. Hart Weaver and Collin McVicker played at Williamsport together and will be attending HCC, while Shad Gordon, from Southern Fulton, rounds out the recruiting class.
"Axel was the play maker at Thomas Johnson last season and he has experienced success with his club team" mentioned head coach Brian Eichelberger. "We've had great success with Thomas Johnson players in the past and we look forward to adding Axel's technical ability to our midfield."
