All-County Standout, Clayton Layman, to Play at HCC

Hagerstown, Md. - Smithsburg High School graduate, Clayton Layman, recently committed to Hagerstown Community College for the fall semester.

Layman, a four year varsity player for the Leopards, finished his career with 59 points, coming from 19 goals and 21 assists.

In 2011, as a captain for Smithsburg, he netted six of his eight goals directly off free-kicks. He was named First Team All-County, First Team All-County Coaches, First Team-All Antietam, and participated in the Four Diamonds All-Star Game. He netted the first goal for the Maryland Stars, leading them to a 7-3 victory over Pennsylvania.

In 2010 and 2009, Layman was selected Second Team All-County, Second Team All-County Coaches, and Second Team All-Antietam. As a freshman in 2008, he was Second Team All-Antietam.

"Clayton brings great experience to our program," stated head coach Brian Eichelberger. "He's competed consistently at a high level and he comes from a vast athletic background. He's a versatile player, so he can make an impact at various positions right away."
