Martinsburg High Senior will attend Hagerstown C.C.
Hagerstown, Md.- Martinsburg High School senior, Ricardo Merino, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men’s soccer team.
Merino, an outside or central defender, helped the Bulldogs to an 8-7-4 overall record his senior year. Martinsburg would see their season come to an end against State Runner-Up, Washington High School. After falling behind two goals, the Bulldogs would mount a comeback and tie the game 2-2 before surrendering a goal in the final minutes of double overtime.
Merino, a back-to-back recipient of the Coaches Award at Martinsburg, finished his career with two goals and four assists from his defensive position.
Merino played club soccer for Tricounty Thunder and Epic Cyclones. His teams would finish ranked second in the state.
Merino, a West Virginia native will join Maryland - Baltimore County recruits Jaime Quansah and Benny Brankoff. The Hawks have also received commitments from Montgomery County players, Azaria Honsou and Angel Osegueda, along with Frederick residents Javier Posadas and Fredy Barerra. Andrew Owens, from Washington County rounds out the 2016 class.
