Hagerstown C.C. Athletes Receive NJCAA Region XX and All-MDJUCO Awards
Hagerstown, Md. - The Hagerstown Community College men's soccer team had three players selected to the NJCAA Region XX Team and two players on the All-MDJUCO Team.
Sophomore midfielder Michael Reyes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) and freshman forward Garrett Hajjar (Frederick, Md./Urbana) were named to the NJCAA Region XX First Team. Reyes was also awarded First Team All-MDJUCO, while Hajjar was presented with Second Team All-MDJUCO honors.
Reyes led the Hawks with 29 points, on 10 goals and nine assists. He also started and played in every game, while captaining HCC this season. Hajjar led the team in goals scored with 13, while also finishing second in points, with 28. He also tallied two assists on the year. Hajjar started his collegiate career recording at least one goal in his first six games played.
Sophomore defender Cody Butts (Clear Spring, Md./Heritage Academy) captured second team honors for NJCAA Region XX. Butts started and played in every game for his two-year collegiate career at Hagerstown C.C. He was a mainstay in the defense during his career and was pivotal in helping record a 1.02 GA average.
HCC finished the season 10-9-1 overall and lost in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XX Tournament to eventual champion Essex C.C. in a 3-2 overtime thriller.
