All-Conference Player, Nathan Redmond, Commits to HCC
Hagerstown, Md.- Smithsburg High School senior, Nathan Redmond, has recently announced his commitment to the Hagerstown Community College men’s soccer team.
Redmond, a four-year varsity starter and two-year captain for the Leopards played midfield and striker. During his senior season, Redmond recorded six goals and five assists for 17 points. He would help Smithsburg earn their best record in 10 years when they went 7-9-0 overall and 5-5-0 in conference. In 2014 and 2013, Redman was named First Team All-MVAL Antietam Conference and First Team All-County, while in 2012, he was Honorable Mention.
In club soccer, Redmond has competed with F.C. Frederick for two seasons, while also playing for Hagerstown Soccer Club for three years. For F.C. Frederick, he competed in the NCSL U-19 Royals and scored seven goals and added three assists for 17 points. Along with soccer, Redmond also competes on the Golf and Basketball team at Smithsburg. He holds a 3.5 GPA and is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
At HCC, Redmond will be reunited with former teammates, Tim Horning and Adam Dwyer. Ryan Byard also hails from Washington County, while Alejandro Oliart, Ernesto Mejia, Geordy Nyam, Eric Madrid and Diego Claros all come from Montgomery County. Jose Ramirez rounds out the recruiting class from Frederick County.
"Nathan has been a player we've had on our radar screen since he was a sophomore," mentioned head coach Brian Eichelberger. "He has truly been a leader in Washington County and we are excited that he chose to stay close to home. Nathan can play multiple positions and we are looking forward to getting him on the field with us."
