Tuscarora High School Senior Commits to Hagerstown Community College
Hagerstown, Md. - Tuscarora High School Senior, Justin Yates, recently committed to continue his education and soccer career at Hagerstown Community College.
Yates, a standout player in Frederick County, ended his four-year career with the Titans this past fall. He amassed a total of 87 points, on 26 goals and 35 assists during his time at Tuscarora.
In 2010, Yates helped the Titans to a 9-2-5 overall record, with their second loss in the season coming in the Region Quarterfinals. Following the season, he was named First Team All-Area, First Team All-MVAL Piedmont, and First Team All-Gazette. In 2009, he was named Second Team All-MVAL Piedmont and Honorable Mention All-Area.
Yates has been a member of FC Frederick for the past 10 seasons, being named captain for five of them.
"Justin has proven himself as a scoring threat in Frederick County for the past two seasons", stated Head Coach Brian Eichelberger. "He has a natural ability to be dangerous in the box, which is exactly what we are looking for him to continue to do at Hagerstown. Playing alongside former teammates will help him adjust to the college game quickly and be an immediate impact for us."
Yates joins fellow Tuscarora teammates, Garrett Cook and Chucky Kipe. Other Frederick natives previously committed are Josh Fahlfeder and Mamadou Jallow. Daniel Doub, Jordan Payne, Devin Repp, Dominique Phillips, and Chip Rittenhouse all come from Washington County while Alex Sanchez is from Pennsylvania. Genc Sopa rounds out the 2011 signing class, from Kosovo.
The Hawks kick off their season on August 29 when they travel to MDJUCO opponent Montgomery College-Rockville.
